ABSTRACT

Fløttum, K. 2001. Le résumé scientifique – texte monophonique ou polyphonique ? Technostyle (Sherbrooke), CATTW/ACPRTS 17. 1: 67–86.

In this article, I study the scientific abstract, traditionally considered as impersonal and non-engaged, in the perspective of linguistic polyphony (Ducrot 1984, Nølke 1994). My purpose is to identify relevant factors which can test the hypothesis according to which there are traces of engagement and discussion in the scientific abstract. The results show that this type of abstract is not monophonic. Engagement and discussion are clearly present.
